What is Pilates?

Joseph Pilates introduced Pilates to America all the way back in the 1920s as a way to help injured athletes and dancers safely return to exercise and maintain their fitness.

Pilates is a series of about 500 exercises inspired by calisthenics, yoga and ballet.
This type of training lengthens and stretches all the major muscle groups in the body in a balanced fashion. It improves flexibility, strength, balance and body awareness.

Since its inception, Pilates has been adapted to suit people outside of the dancing and athletic community.

How can Pilates support you?

  • It can improve flexibility
  • Increase muscle strength and tone your body
  • Improve stabilisation of your spine
  • Improve posture
  • It can rehabilitate and prevent injuries related to muscle imbalances
  • Increase lung capacity and circulation through deep breathing
  • Improve concentration
  • It is fantastic for stress management and relaxation.

BODYCORE’S Level 3 Diploma in Instructing Pilates course will provide Trainees with the skills and knowledge to enable them to be professionally competent to design, plan and deliver safe and effective Pilates classes.

Do you know someone who is experiencing ill mental health? Or are you a fitness professional who would like to support your clients on a deeper level?

It can be tough to know if someone you care about is battling with their mental health as many people still believe there is a stigma attached to it.

It can be even more tricky to know what to do if someone does open up to you about their struggles.

What you need to remember is you aren’t expected to fix someone! What you can do is respond sensitively and compassionately. You can discuss their symptoms and try to find out whether or not they have been diagnosed with an illness or if they are willing to seek support.

More than anything, someone struggling with their emotional or mental wellbeing needs a support system around them.

BODYCORE’S Level 2 Mental Health Awareness course provides Trainees with an understanding and awareness of mental health, common mental health disorders and issues, help reduce stigma and discrimination and encourage people to talk about mental health.

Furthermore, the qualification should provide Trainees with the ability to apply their knowledge of mental health through recognising and responding to the signs of mental ill health in themselves and others and be able to offer mental health first aid to people experiencing mental ill health.

Would you like to expand your knowledge so you can support someone who is struggling?

Our promise to you:

  • You will receive the Platinum standard of International qualification, along with CIMSPA endorsement
  • You will benefit from PT MENTOR® support throughout your course
  • You will be a part of a dedicated online learning portal to improve your learning journey with us
  • You will have exclusive access to our Facebook Group designed to support all of our trainees throughout their journey with us.

Physical activity is a fantastic way to improve your joints, bones and your overall health, but did you know it is also beneficial to your mental health and wellbeing?

Physical activity doesn’t mean having to confine yourself inside a gym for hours, it can look different for everyone!

Walking, cycling, or jogging outdoors
Unstructured activity like play time with pets or young children
Structured activity like competitive sports

The key is to find an activity that you enjoy and that keeps you motivated to keep returning to it.

Engaging in just 10 minutes of physical activity a day has huge potential to enhance your wellbeing, increase your mental alertness, energy, and lift your mood. Regular exercise can increase your self-esteem, reduce stress and anxiety, and help prevent the development of mental health and cognitive problems.

Life can often feel like one uphill struggle, especially with the twists and turns COVID has brought us! Taking time to explore how you’re truly feeling emotionally and mentally is so important right now.

Would you like to teach others about healthy eating?

The lockdown measures have resulted in gyms closing as well as schools. This has resulted in many people having to homeschool their children whilst juggling their work commitments, leaving next to no time for them to exercise, let alone time to be mindful about what food and drink they’re consuming.

The COVID Symptom Study app estimates that almost a third of those surveyed have gained weight since March 2020.

The NHS estimates that around 1 in every 4 adults and around 1 in every 5 children aged 10 to 11 are obese, while 63% of the population, aged 18 or over, are either overweight or obese, equating to an estimated 35 million people!

A healthy and well balanced diet is not only an important part of maintaining good health, but it can also support mental wellbeing!

Now, more than ever, it is vital to inform people about the positive nutritional and lifestyle choices they should be making before their bad habits really impact their health and wellness.

BODYCORE’S Level 3 Award in Nutrition for Sport and Exercise Performance course will provide you with detailed knowledge on nutrition for sports performance.

On completion of this course, you will understand how to use nutrition to optimise sports performance, covering areas such as the function of macro & micro-nutrients in exercise and recovery and supplementation.

Our promise to you:

  • Receive the Platinum standard of International qualification, along with CIMSPA endorsement.
  • Benefit from PT MENTOR® support throughout your course.
  • Dedicated online learning portal to improve your learning journey with us.
  • Exclusive Facebook Group designed to support all of our trainees throughout their journey with us.

Treat your students as you would want to be treated, going above and beyond goes a long way. Show them your energy and enthusiasm at all times and understand that they were just like you at one point, they need to build their confidence and knowledge.

By becoming a PT MENTOR® you will not only be supporting someone’s journey to success, but you will also be creating an additional stream of income next to your existing fitness business.

To teach is to inspire…

Do you want to use your experience to mentor the next generation of Personal Trainers?

At BODYCORE, we are committed to the personal and professional development of our trainees. We build strong, successful and inspiring Personal Trainers through our PT MENTOR® led training programmes.

We pride ourselves in the community that we have created to support our trainees in discovering their true potential.

If you have a background in fitness, you are compassionate, and you have a drive to teach others, then becoming a PT MENTOR® is something you should consider!

BODYCORE created our signature PT MENTOR® approach out of a need for a modern approach to learning, as well as to provide an excellent customer experience.

As a PT MENTOR® you will spend time with your trainee(s) in the gym environment, preparing them for their observed assessment, whilst putting their anatomical knowledge into action!

It will be up to you to inspire your trainee(s) to believe in their ability and to surpass any limits they put on themselves.

How do you do this?

  • Value the trainee as a person
  • Be compassionate and understanding
  • Develop mutual trust and respect
  • Maintain confidentiality

Everyone starts at the bottom, use the experiences that shaped your chapter 1 to encourage and motivate your trainee(s). If you made mistakes, be open and honest about them. The lessons you learnt will ensure the trainee can move towards their goals by avoiding the things you know didn’t work during your journey.

Life can get the better of all us, especially when you are studying, so checking in with your trainee(s) on a personal level, to make sure they are coping in their personal life as well as with the course content is a solid way to build a trusting relationship.

A fantastic aspect of the BODYCORE courses are the flexibility they offer, so be mindful that your trainee(s) will have other commitments. Ensuring they are handling the workload and the pace is key to their success and to you being the best PT MENTOR® you can be.

Is it time for you to take that leap of faith?

Time Management Tips for Personal Trainers

As a PT managing your time is vital. If you’re not careful, it can run away with you and destroy everything you have trained so hard for!

Not only will you be filling your diary with client training sessions, you will also be responsible for the administrative side of your business.

These include:

  • Producing health assessments for your clients
  • Creating fitness programmes
  • Researching new techniques
  • Marketing and promoting your business

So, how do you properly manage your time?

Here are a few tips.

Checking emails and messages

Unless you’re waiting for something urgent to come through, check your inbox twice a day.
First thing in the morning and later in the afternoon.
Sometimes a short phone call can cut the time it takes to respond to a message or email.

Use a to-do list

If you don’t write down what needs to be done, how are you going to remember it?
Keep a diary close by, or make use of the calendar on your phone.

Plan ahead

PTs will often use the free time they have in the evening or over the weekend to forward plan. This will give you mental clarity and ownership of the week and days ahead.

Get rid of the most challenging task first

If you know that creating fitness programmes or producing a health assessment takes you the longest amount of time, carry this task out first thing in the morning. You usually have the most amount of energy earlier in the day, so it makes sense to tackle your bigger tasks when you’re not drained. Also, that feeling of accomplishment will keep you motivated for the rest of the day.

Would working in the Fitness, Health & Wellbeing sector give you the job satisfaction you crave?

Then why not start your journey to becoming a Personal Trainer with BODYCORE Training Today.
