What has Lockdown life taught Fitness Professionals?

It has shown that if you have a solid strategy and the right mindset, you can successfully run your business and grow your clientele completely online.

How have Personal Trainers been doing this?

Identifying a niche

This will be your area of expertise. Be intentional and clear about what this is so your existing and new clients know exactly what they will be getting when they commit to working with you.

Consistently market your services

Choose which platforms are going to be the best to spread the word about your services. For Personal Trainers, Social Media is a fantastic place for you. There are over 2 billion Social Media users, so you’re bound to find new clients amongst them.

Make Technology your buddy

Do your research into the platforms and software that will make managing your business more effective and easier. Whilst Social Media acts as your shop window, a well put together website will inform your existing and new clients about who you are and what you can do for them. WordPress is fantastic when it comes to building a professional website at a low cost. You will also want to get to grips with Mailchimp. This will allow you to send email blasts for free to promote your business. It is also advisable to look into the different options available for when you start collecting clients’ payments.

Keep learning

The fitness industry is constantly changing, so you will need to move with the times. Developing new skills and staying up-to-date with the latest fitness techniques and trends and nutrition tips should be an ongoing process. This will both provide your clients with a better service and ensure they don’t get bored with their programmes.

BODYCORE are committed to the personal and professional development of our Trainees. We build strong, successful, and inspiring Personal Trainers, PT MENTORS® and health practitioners.

We pride ourselves in the community that we have created to support our Trainees in discovering their true potential.

If you’re in need of more tips or in need of upskilling, we want to hear from you.

How can Social Media marketing help you as a Personal Trainer?

Social media is a great way to connect with potential new clients as well as your existing clients. It gives you direct access to the people you want to help and creates the opportunity for you to communicate with them at any time and build meaningful relationships.

How do you optimize Social Media for your business?

Keep your personal and professional accounts separate

The people who visit your private account are usually friends, family and loved ones, you might use this space to post personal photos, videos and captions which you don’t want your existing, and new, clients to see. Protect your private space by taking control of what the public can or can’t see.

The goal of your professional account should be to advertise your business and connect with your key demographic, these posts may not be of interest to your friends and loved ones. Your professional account is where you should implement a marketing strategy.
Your strategy should focus on producing content that will engage your ideal clients and persuade them to commit to your services.

Post Strategically

As a PT, posting three to four times a week is a great place to start. This will give your clients a chance to get to know you and your brand. Once your business starts to gain momentum, start posting more often and don’t forget to post to your stories too.

People work with people! They are interested in getting to know the person behind the brand, with this in mind, consistency and intention are very important when it comes to your marketing strategy.

To determine when the best time to post is, you should regularly check your Insights to see how your audience is engaging with your content.

Produce quality content

Be mindful that your content is providing your existing and new clients with valuable information. You can do this by offering fitness, lifestyle and nutrition tips. Make use of videos, images, collages and carousels. Soon enough, you will see an increase in traffic to your social media platforms.

The Father of Orthopedic Medicine

In the 1970s, James Cyriax, M.D., known as the father of orthopedic medicine, developed a series of deep friction techniques for massage therapy that continues to be used in sports medicine today.

What is a sports massage?

It is the manipulation of soft tissue to benefit a person engaged in regular physical activity.

The aim of a sports massage is to reduce the stress and tension that can build up in the soft tissues of the body during exercise. It can increase endurance and improve performance.

When is it best to have a sports massage?

Pre-event massage

Massages before exercise or an event can warm up the muscles and get them ready for action. They encourage the blood to flow properly.
The speed of the massage stimulates the muscles using rhythmic techniques, this prevents the muscles from relaxing.
A sports massage before a football or rugby game can help with your range of movement and increase flexibility. It is also a great way to prevent injury.
Often athletes and sports people can feel nervous before their event, a sports massage can aid the tension that anxiety can build up within the body.

Post event massage

A massage after an event can aid athletes and sports people in recovering from the activity they participated in. It flushes out lactic acid buildup, reduces post-exercise soreness, and re-establishes range of motion and blood flow to tight muscles.
It can also give athletes and sports people a big psychological lift.

BODYCORE’s Level 3 Diploma in Sports Massage Therapy provides Trainees with a combination of knowledge and skills to be recognised as a qualified sports massage therapist.

The qualification is suitable for individuals who wish to pursue or further a career in sports massage, providing sports massage therapy to a wide range of clients, inclusive of sports performers, athletes and individuals suffering from day to day problems such as repetitive strain injury, sprains, tension and fatigue.

Do you know someone who is experiencing ill mental health? Or are you a fitness professional who would like to support your clients on a deeper level?

It can be tough to know if someone you care about is battling with their mental health as many people still believe there is a stigma attached to it.

It can be even more tricky to know what to do if someone does open up to you about their struggles.

What you need to remember is you aren’t expected to fix someone! What you can do is respond sensitively and compassionately. You can discuss their symptoms and try to find out whether or not they have been diagnosed with an illness or if they are willing to seek support.

More than anything, someone struggling with their emotional or mental wellbeing needs a support system around them.

BODYCORE’S Level 2 Mental Health Awareness course provides Trainees with an understanding and awareness of mental health, common mental health disorders and issues, help reduce stigma and discrimination and encourage people to talk about mental health.

Furthermore, the qualification should provide Trainees with the ability to apply their knowledge of mental health through recognising and responding to the signs of mental ill health in themselves and others and be able to offer mental health first aid to people experiencing mental ill health.

Would you like to expand your knowledge so you can support someone who is struggling?

Our promise to you:

  • You will receive the Platinum standard of International qualification, along with CIMSPA endorsement
  • You will benefit from PT MENTOR® support throughout your course
  • You will be a part of a dedicated online learning portal to improve your learning journey with us
  • You will have exclusive access to our Facebook Group designed to support all of our trainees throughout their journey with us.

If you would like to continue expanding your knowledge into mental health, you might also be interested in our Behavioural NLP for Fitness Professionals course. Upon completion, you will be equipped with the skills and the awareness to support your clients emotional needs on a deeper level. By improving your expertise in this area, you will stand out in the industry, and position yourself to be known as a fitness professional who goes that extra mile.
